2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 tbsp. vanilla extract (or 1 tsp almond extract)
1/2 tsp salt
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour

Assorted colored sugars and sprinkles for decorating

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Have a cookie press and baking sheets ready.

In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar with a mixer on high speed for 5 minutes or until light and fluffy. Add egg, vanilla, and salt beat until blended. On low speed, gradually beat in flour.

Following manufacturer's instructions, place dough into cookie press and press out cookies about 2 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheet(s).

Decorate cookies with colored sugar or sprinkles.

*Makes about 64 cookies*

Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden. Transfer with a board spatula to wire racks to cool completely.
