2 packages dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
3 cups scalded milk
2/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons salt
6 1/2-8 cups flour
3 cups oatmeal
melted shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Soften yeast in warm water. Pour milk over shortening, sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Stir in 1 cup of flour, yeast and oats to milk mixture. Stir in rest of flour to make a soft dough. Turn onto a lightly floured board and knead for 10 minutes. Round into a ball. Place in a greased bowl. Brush lightly with melted shortening. Let rise until double, about an hour.
Shape into three loaves and let rise again.
