2 lg heads cauliflower, separated into florets
1 gallon green tomatoes, chopped
6 large onions, chopped
6 green peppers, chopped
6 cucumbers, chopped

1 pint vinegar
1 lb sugar
1 level tsp each of cloves, cinnamon, allspice and mace
1/2 tsp red pepper, if desired

Directions:

Mix vegetables together.
Put in large pan in layers.
First a layer of vegetables then a very thin layer salt.
Repeat until all ingredients are used ending with salt.
Let stand 24 hours.
Squeeze as dry as possible .
Mix vinegar, sugar and spices and boil for 5 min.
Pour over vegetables and stir well so that vinegar mixture is mixed well.
Allow to stand for several hours.
Bring pickle mixture to boil and then cool 15 min.
Pack in sterilized jars and seal at once.
