12 c. flour
2/3 c. milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 lb. butter
3 pkg. dry baker's yeast
2 T. plus 2 T. sugar
16 oz. sour cream
6 eggs, separated
2 lb. walnuts, chopped
4 c. powdered sugar

Directions:
Slightly heat milk, remove from heat and add yeast, mix well.
Add enough flour from the 12 c. to make a soft paste. Let stand covered in warm place to rise.
In a small bowl, mix well 2 T. sugar, egg yolks, sour cream and vanilla.
Place remaining flour in a large bowl and add butter.
Mix well with hands and make a well in the center.
Place yeast mixture and egg yolk mixture in well and mix until it separates from the sides of the bowl.
Shape into walnut sized balls and refrigerate overnight.
The next day, mix walnuts and powdered sugar well.
Beat egg whites to meringue stage, add 2 T. sugar and fold into walnut mixture.
Roll each dough ball out and spread with nut mixture.
Roll from one side and form into a crescent shape.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375º for 20 min.
sprinkle with powdered sugar when cooled.
