2 cups sifted plain flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup water
1 tablespoon oil

Directions:

Sift dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Add water and oil and mix well with a fork. Knead dough on a floured board. Roll to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut dough into 2 x 4 inch pieces. Deep fry at 385°, turning once, until a deep golden brown. Drain well.

For sopaipillas serve with warm honey. For Beignets sprinkle generously with powdered sugar.
