1 tbsp yeast
1 tsp sugar
1/4 c lukewarm water
1 c milk
3/4 c sugar
4 1/2 c flour
1/4 c butter
1 egg
1 tsp salt





Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast and 1 tsp sugar in the lukewarm water. Warm the milk, add yeast mixture and 1 1/2 c flour, beating until well blended. Cover and let rise about 1 hour. Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy, add well beaten egg and salt. Stir into yeast mixture and add remaining flour, mixing well. Cover let rise until double in bulk. Turn onto floured board and roll to 1/2 inch thick,cut with doughnut cutter and let rise until light. Fry 375 F hot fat, brown on one side, turn with fork and brown other side, about 2 minutes each side. Drain on absorbent paper. Glaze with sugar glaze.
Mix 1 c sifted icing sugar, with 1/2 c boiling water. Cool until warm, don't let it crystalize. Put fork through doughnut hole and dip in Glaze. Dry on Rack
