Chocolate Meringue Pie Recipe

3 egg whites
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
Dash of salt
3/4 c. sugar
2 c. chocolate chips
1 T. instant coffee
1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. heavy cream
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Grease 10" pie plate.

Beat egg whites until they stand in soft peaks; sprinkle in salt and tartar; add sugar gradually; then beat until peaks are stiff.

Spread 2/3's on bottom of pie pan and remaining 1/3'd on the sides. Bake at 275 F. for 1 hour until brown.

Melt chocolate; slowly stir in boiling water and coffee; beat until creamy; add vanilla; cool.

Whip cream and then fold into chocolate mixture.
Pour into cooled pie shell. Refrigerate.

Note: You may want to sprinkle grated chocolate on top.
