2 packages of dry yeast
2 c. lukewarm water
2 T. white granulated sugar
2 tsp. salt
3 c. white flour
1/2 c. hot water
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 stick of margarine
1/2 c. dark molasses
1 1/2 c. rye flour

Directions:
Directions:
Soften yeast in lukewarm water; add white granulated sugar, salt and white flour. Beat smooth. Set in warm place until light and bubbly. This is the sponge.
Combine hot water with brown sugar, margarine and molasses. Cool to lukewarm. Add to sponge. Add rye flour and enough white flour to make a firm elastic dough; knead well and let rise. Place in greased loaf pans. Let rise until doubled. Bake 1 hour at 350º. Makes 3 loaves.
