1 c (6 oz) pitted dates
1 c nuts
3/4 c sifted all-purpose flour
3/4 c sugar
1/4 t baking powder
1/4 t salt
1/2 c salad or cooking oil
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:

Grease a 9x9x2 in. baking pan
Snip & set aside the dates
Chop coarsley & set aside the nuts
Sift into mixing bowl the flour sugar, baking powder & salt.
Make a well in center of dry ingredients & add in order the oil, eggs & vanilla
Beat mixture with wooden spoon until smooth (do not overbeat). Stir in nuts & dates, mixing well. Turn batter into prepared pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F 30 to 35 min.
Set on cooling rack to cool slightly before cutting
into bars.
While still warm, dust bars with confectioners sugar
