1 ½ cup sugar ( ½ cup sugar for topping and 1 cup sugar for batter)
¾ cup shortening (butter, margarine or crisco)
¼ c. margarine
3 eggs
3 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking soda
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

Mix ½ cup of sugar, cinnamon and vanilla in a small bowl. Set aside.
Cream 1 cup sugar, shortening in a bowl. Add 3 eggs to batter, one at a time.
Sift flour, baking powder, salt and soda in a bowl.
Alternate adding half of sour cream then half of dry ingredients and repeat.
Place ½ of the batter in a 9 x 11 pyrex dish or 2 foil cake pans. Sprinkle ½ the sugar mixture on top.
Cover with rest of the batter carefully with a silver knife. Then cover with rest of sugar mixture.
Bake 350 for 45 minutes in rectangle pan or 30 minutes in 2 round pans. Test if done.
