1 c. evaporated milk
1/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. corn syrup
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. coarsely broken nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Butter well an 8" square pan and set aside.
Heat evaporated milk and butter until butter melts, keep hot.
In a heavy saucepan, mix sugar, syrup and salt and cook, stirring, over med. heat until mixture boils and reaches firm-ball stage (244º).
Stir in hot milk mixture slowly so that sugar mixture does not stop boiling.
Cook until firm-ball stage is reached again.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and nuts.
Pour into buttered pan. When firm, turn out on wax paper and cut into 1" squares. Wrap each in wax paper.
