1 C. Butter
2 C. Sugar
4 Egg Yolks
3 ½ C. Flour
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Nutmeg
1 tsp. Cloves
1 tsp. Allspice
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1 C. Buttermilk
1 C. Berry Juice
1 C. Raisins, chopped
1 C. Nuts, chopped
2 Delicious Apples, chopped
1 C. Jam
1 tsp. Vanilla Flavoring
4 Egg Whites, Beaten


Frosting Ingredients:
4 C. Sugar
2 C. Milk
1 C. Dates, chopped
1 C. Coconut
1 C. Nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter. Add sugar and cream until light. Separate egg yolks, saving the whites. Add yolks to mixture and beat. Sift together all dry ingredients and set aside. Mix together milk and berry juice. Alternately add dry ingredients with milk mixture to egg/butter mixture. Add fruits and nuts, fold in beaten egg whites. Pour batter into three 9-inch greased and floured layer pans. Bake at 350ºF. for 35-40 minutes. Allow cakes to cool 10-15 minutes on wire rack then remove from pan. Make frosting by cooking 4 cups sugar and 2 cups milk together in a saucepan. Cook until a small amount put in cold water forms a soft ball. Add dates and cook until thick or dates have dissolved. Add coconut and nuts. Beat until smooth. Ice cooled cake layers.
