16 oz. grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup chopped white onion
1 cup chopped pecans
2 (8 oz.) cream cheese
8 oz. chutney (find in jelly section) remove small chunks
1 small package frozen spinach - cooked, drained and chopped in food processor
1/4 tsp. garlic salt
1/8 tsp. basil
dash each of pepper, cumin, nutmeg
2-3 Tbsp. mayo

You will make four layers:

Layers 1 & 4 (top and bottom):
Mix cheese, onion and pecans. Add mayo to hold together. Separate into even portions for top and bottom.

Layer 2 - Mix 8 oz. cream cheese & chutney. Spread over layer 1.

Layer 3 - Mix 8 oz. cream cheese, spinach and seasonings. Spread over layer 2.

Add layer four (cheese mixture) to top.

Refrigerate at least 2 hours or freeze. If frozen, set out at least 3 hours before serving.

This makes a big torte, so I use this one recipe to make 2 tortes using plastic cool whip containers (or something about that size). I usually use one and freeze one. This is the Cheddar Box recipe given to me by my neighbor, Joy Smith.
