1 lb. walnuts
1 lb. dates-pitted
2-10oz. jars of maraschino cherries (drained)
3/4 cup of sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 300º. Grease 1 pan (9x5x2 pan or 2 small loaf pans). Line with wax paper and grease again.

Cake:
1. Put whole pieces of fruit and nuts in a bowl.
2. Add dry ingredients that have been sifted together.
3. Mix by hand until all fruit is coated.
4. Beat eggs until foamy; add vanilla.
5. Pour over fruit and mix well.
6. Place in loaf pans.
7. Bake 1 3/4 hours (9x5x2) or 1 hour (2 small loaf pans) at 300º.
