2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 cup flour

Separate Bowl
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 cup chopped dates
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 tbsp. shortening
1 cup boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
Part A
1. Mix together eggs and sugar in a bowl.
2. Add 1 tsp. vanilla, 1/2 tsp. salt, and 1 1/4 cups flour to the mixture.
3. Mix well together.
Part B
In a separate bowl...Add the following:
1/2 cup chopped nuts, 1 cup chopped dates, 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda,
3 tbsp. shortening, and 1 cup boiling water. Mix and allow to stand for twenty minutes.
*Add Part B to Part A. Bake 45 minutes -1 hour at 350º.
