Lamb Cake

3 1/2 cup flour
1 lb. butter
2 1/2 cups sugar
6 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
lamb mold or chicken mold

Frosting

1/2 lb. of butter (really high quality or Crisco)
1 cup sugar
1 tsp.vanilla
3 tbsp. flour
1 cup milk

Lamb Cake

1. Cream butter and sugar well.
2. Add eggs one at a time and beat in mixer well.
3. Add vanilla, sifted flour and add to batter alternating with milk, a little at a time. Start and end with flour.
4. Grease and flour molds.
5. Fill 1/2 way into the face portion of the mold, cover and put on a cookie sheet to avoid spills when baking.
6. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
7. After baking, wait 10-15 minutes before carefully removing from cake molds. Stand upright.

Frosting

1.Cook flour and milk until thick paste forms.
2. Set aside to cool.
3. Cream the butter and cooled flour mixture. Beat very well.
4.Add vanilla, then sugar. Beat until smooth and creamy.This may take a good while to obtain the required consistency.
(NOTE: Only make frosting for 4x the recipe at a time...it will not fit otherwise in the bowl.)

Frost lamb and chickens on the platter they will be displayed on. Garnish with Easter grass and candy. It makes a beautiful centerpiece and an even better dessert!

This Easter favorite has been made by Mom every year since 1960.
