3 lbs. lean ground beef 2 c. chopped onion
1 c. chopped bell pepper 1 c. chopped red bell pepper
3 garlic cloves, minced 3 Tbsp. chili powder
1 Tbsp. dried oregano 1 Tbsp. dried basil
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper 1 Tbsp. ground cumin
1 Tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. salt
2 (16 oz) can whole tomatoes, undrained 1 (16 oz) can tomato sauce
2 (16 oz) can dice tomatoes (spicy) undrained 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
4 (15 oz) cans red kidney beans, drained and rinsed

Brown beef over medium heat in a large stockpot. Drain excess fat. Add onion, peppers and garlic. Stir in chili powder, oregano, basil, red pepper and cumin, and mix well. Cook until onions are tender. Add sugar and salt. Stir in tomatoes, sauce, paste and beans. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 30 to 40 minutes.
