2 c raisins
1 c water
1 c shortening
2 c white sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
4 c all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp all spice
1 c chopped nuts (optional)
Directions:
Directions:
Cover raisins with water and boil 15 mins. Cool.
Cream together shortening, add sugar, add eggs and beat well. Add vanilla & boiled raisins with 1/4 cup more water.
Sift together dry ingredients and add to batter a little at a time. Lastly add chopped nuts.
Drop on greased cookie sheet & bake at 350º for 10-15 mins or until nicely browned.
