2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 cups pecan halves
1 Tbls. butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
In a large pot, stir together sugar, buttermilk,
and baking soda until sugar is dissolved.
Boil mixture over medium-low heat until
mixture reaches 234 degrees (soft ball stage),
stirring constantly.
Remove from the heat and stir in pecans, butter,
and vanilla.
Beat mixture briskly until glossy and begins to
thicken.
Quickly spoon mixture, 1 Tbls. to 1/4 cup at a
time, onto greased waxed paper.
Allow to cool completely before removing from
wax paper.
