French Apple Slices Recipe

CRUST!
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup vegetable shortening (crisco)
2 egg yolks
6 Tbsp.cold water
1 Tbsp lemon juice

FILLINGS!
8 apples (3 lbs.)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 Tbsp flour
1 tsp cinnamon or to taste
1/8 tsp nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Mix beaten egg yolks with very cold water and lemon juice, set aside.
Mix flour and salt With pastry blender or fork, cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the liquid and knead till smooth.
Roll out top and bottom.Put bottom in a 11 x 8-inch glass dish. (Can also use 12 x 9 inch dish just won't be as high)
FOR FILLING!
Peal and slice apples then add remaining ingredients and put on top of the bottom crust in dish. Add 2 Tbsps of butter, Cover with second crust and make slits for steam to escape.
Bake at 350º F for 1 hour
Mix Confectioner sugar with a little milk and blend till smooth, drizzle over warm slices.
