6 cups water
2 tsp. salt
1 3/4 cup cornmeal
3 tbsp. butter

Directions:
Bring water to a boil. Add salt. Begin adding the cornmeal in a very slow stream and stir with a wire whisk. When all the cornmeal is incorporated, use a wooden spoon and stir slowly and constantly until of desired consistency, about 20 minutes. When cooked, stir in the butter.

My mother and grandmother would make this in a large batch and when cooked, it was spread on a large board. Spaghetti sauce was spread over the top and all the meat that was in the sauce was put in the middle of the board. Whoever got to the center of the board first got their choice of meat. It was a fun and economical way to share a meal!
