1 ham bone (or bacon or salt pork)
2 c. split peas
1 t. salt
1 t. sugar
1 med. onion, chopped
1 dash Cayenne pepper (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
In water, cook the bone until meat comes off bone. In 2 qts. water add meat/bone, and remainder of ingredients. When thoroughly cooked ( 1 hr. or so) you may need to add water, if mixture is too thick.
