½ c sugar
1 tbsp. corn starch
½ tsp cinnamon
4 c or 2 cans tart pitted cherries
1 tsp. lemon juice
3 tbsp. Crisco
1 c flour
1 tbsp. sugar 1 ½ t baking powder
¼ tsp. salt
½ c milk

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400

In saucepan put:
½ c sugar
1 tbsp. corn starch
½ tsp. cinnamon
Stir these together
Add 4 c or 2 cans tart pitted cherries
Add 1 tsp. lemon juice

Cook on medium heat stirring constantly till boils and thickens thicken for 1 minute.Put it in a 2 quart casserole dish(8 x8)
Place in hot oven while mixing the topping.

Meanwhile mix:
3 T Crisco
1 cu flour
1 T sugar 1 ½ t baking powder
¼ t salt
Cut shortening into flour and rest of dry ingredients until grainy mix
Add in ½ cu milk. Mix together.

Drop dough mixture by spoonful onto the hot cherry mixture

Bake 25 – 30 minutes
