2 cups sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup milk
1 cup butter
1 1/4 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugars, syrup, cream, milk and butter. Mix well. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally until mixture reaches a firm ball stage (248'). Remove from heat. Add vanilla. Pour onto greased 8x8x2 pan. Cool. When firm, turn onto a board and cut caramels with heavy knife or shears. Wrap each square in waxed paper.

Variations:

Substitute 2 cups half and half in place of heavy cream and milk.

Coat completed caramels with chocolate.
