1 cup light corn syrup
2 1/4 cups brown sugar
1 14 oz can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Melt butter, add brown sugar and stir until thoroughly combined. Stir in corn syrup; mix well. Gradually add Eagle Brand milk, stirring until candy reaches firm ball (245 degrees). Stir in vanilla, then pour into buttered 9 x 13" pan. Cool and cut into squares. I usually wrap squares in wax paper, as they can be pretty sticky.

Personal Notes:
This recipe comes from a book of Cookie and Candy recipes. I first became "intrigued" with making caramels when I tasted some made by Jeannette Kelsey's mother, Mrs. Hogan, when I was in elementary school.
