4 c. flour
2 T. cocoa
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 c. sugar
1 c. light molasses
1/4 c. sugar(for rolling)


Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, cocoa, baking soda, spices and salt in a bowl.
Beat together butter and 1 c. sugar until fluffy. Beat in molasses. Gradually add flour mixture and beat until just well blended.
Divide dough in half. Pat each half into a 1" thick round. Wrap and chill 1 hour at least.
Heat oven to 375F.
Lighly grease cookie sheets. Roll tablespoonfuls of dough into 1" balls. Roll each ball in the remaining 1/4 c. sugar and place on cookie sheets 1" apart.
Bake 10 minutes. Cool on cookie sheets for 1 minute before removing to a rack to cool.
