1 1/2 c. uncooked instant white grits
6 c. cold water
1 lb. sharp cheddar cheese (or 2 sticks Cracker Barrel sharp cheddar)
2 sticks margarine
3 eggs, slightly beaten
4 tbsp. seasoned salt
1/2 t. cayenne pepper
2-4 drops Tabasco sauce

Directions:
Directions:
Bring water to boil. Add grits slowly (cook entirely on medium heat.) Cook and stir over medium heat 3-5 minutes. Add remaining ingredients while mixture is hot. Pour into a greased 2 quart casserole dish. Cook for 1 hour in 350º oven. Let stand 45 minutes before serving.

Can be made the night before. Mix all ingredients, cover and refrigerate. Then set out 1 hour before cooking the next day. Proceed to cook according to above directions.

When LaVerne first made this recipe for Jim and I, Jim loved it. I was lukewarm about it. But she gave me the recipe and I made it for Christmas one year. Everyone loved them. My Son-in-law asked for the recipe, and he must make a double batch each Christmas...one to serve for my side of the family, and the other to take to his families' holiday gathering. Whether you like grits or not, you will love this recipe!
