1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 T cocoa
2 t baking powder
1/4 t salt
1/2 cup milk
2 T shortening, melted
1/4 cup finely chopped nuts
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/4 cup cocoa
1 3/4 cups hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350. Measure flour, granulated sugar, 2 T cocoa, the baking powder and salt into a bowl. Blend in milk and shortening; stir in nuts. Pour into unpressed square pan 9x9x2 inches. Stir together brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa; sprinkle over batter. Pour hot water over batter.
Bake 45 minutes, cut into squares; or spoon into bowl. Be sure to get some sauce. We like it very warm with vanilla I've cream
