2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/4 tsps baking soda
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup butter flavor Crisco
2 eggs
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 cup mashed ripe bananas
1/2 cups nuts chopped (Optional)

Directions:

Add all dry ingredients together in a bowl. Then add all the other ingredients to this. Mix by hand. Grease a loaf pan, pour and bake at 350º for 75 to 80 minutees.

My mom has used this recipe for over 50 years, changing it to perfection. It is a cross between a cake and bread, and is very moist.
