For the bottom crust:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup all purpose flour
2 T. Water

For the puff:
1 c. water
1/2 c. butter
1 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. almond extract
4 eggs

For the glaze:
1 1/2 c. confectioner's sugar
2 tsp butter, soft
1 to 2 T. water
1/2 c. chopped nuts, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.

For the crust, cut the butter into the flour and add water. Form into a ball, then roll or pat out on a cookie sheet in a long oval. This part of the recipe is like making pie crust.

For the puff, in a saucepan combine butter and water. Heat until boiling. Stir in almond extract, and beat in flour. Add eggs, one at a time. Spoon this mixture (which should be like cream puffs) over the pastry, bake 60 minutes.

Make a glaze out of confectioner's sugar, soft butter and remaining water. You can add food coloring if you like. Spread the glaze over the puffs and top with nuts if desired.
