5 CUPS ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
1/2 CUP SUGAR
1 TSP SALT
2 EGGS
1/3 CUP SHORTENING
1/4 CUP WARM WATER
1 1/2 CUPS MILK (SCALDED AND COOLED)

Directions:
ADD INGREDIENTS TO BREAD MACHINE IN ORDER LISTED. SET MACHINE TO DOUGH CYCLE. WHEN COMPLETE TURN OUT ONTO FLOURED SURFACE, ROLL DOUGH TO I/2 INCH THICKNESS, CUT WITH FLOURED DONUT CUTTER. COVER WITH DAMP TOWEL AND LET RISE FOR ABOUT 1 HR. DOUBLE IN SIZE.

HEAT OIL TO 350 DEGREES SLIDE DONUTS INTO OIL TURN DONUTS AS THEY RISE TO SURFACE, FRY TILL GOLDEN BROWN, USUALLY ABOUT A MINUTE PER SIDE. REMOVE FROM OIL AND LET COOL ON WIRE RACK. DIP DONUTS IN GLAZE
