1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp water
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup water
1 cup light corn syrup
3 tbsp butter or margerine
1 lb shelled peanuts

Directions:
Directions:
Butter two baking sheets and keep warm.
Combine baking soda and 1 tsp water and the vanilla and set aside.

Combine sugar, 1 cup water and corn syrup in a large sauce pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally to 240 degrees on a candy thermometer.

Stir in butter and peanuts. Cook, stirring constantly to 300 degrees. Watch carefully so it doesn't burn. Immediately remove from heat. Stir in soda mixture thoroughly.

Pour half the mixture onto each warm baking sheet an quickly spread evenly 1/4" thick. Cool, and break candy into pieces.
