one pound lean ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
3 ribs celery, chopped
1 large carrot, grated
green pepper, chopped (optional)
1 clove garlic
1 can mushroom pieces (optional)
sugar to taste
spice bag (see Broccoli soup)
2- 680 ml. can Hunt's tomato sauce, assorted flavours
1 128 oz. can crushed tomatoes
1 can tomato paste (optional)
dash cayenne pepper or Taco seasoning
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

Package Italian sausage ( optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Brown ground beef, onion, celery and garlic in a Dutch oven with a little Olive Oil. Drain.
Add remaining ingredients and simmer about 1-1/2 hours or till tender adjusting seasonings to taste.

Lazy Lasagne:
Cook one package noodles according to package directions. Drain.
Add enough sauce to cover the pasta and mix.
In a casserole, place 1/2 the pasta and add cottage cheese and mozzarella cheese in layers
Add remaining pasta and top with cottage cheese and mozzarella.
Cover with foil and heat through.
Remove foil and put under broiler until cheese is browned.

This sauce can be used for Spaghetti and meatballs or Lasagne or Lazy Lasagne. The tomato part can be varied depending what you have on hand. It seems the longer you simmer it, the better the flavour. This can be frozen in serving size portions.
