2 cups brown sugar
1/2 pound butter
2 eggs
3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 cup chopped black walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, soda and cream of tartar. Cream butter and brown sugar. Add beaten eggs, add flour mixture then nuts. Roll in wax paper and place in refrigerator over night. Slice thin and bake at 350º for 10-12 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet.

Grandma Hitter's famous black walnut cookies. Makes alot. I make the dough and roll into logs, wrap in wax paper and then bake whenever I have time in the next couple of days.
