Mom’s Homemade Rolls Recipe

1 c. hot water
1/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. Crisco shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 beaten egg
4 c. plain flour
1 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. warm water

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in 1/4 c. warm water. Pour 1 c. hot water over over shortening, sugar and salt. Let stand until cool. Add
yeast water. Add 2 c. flour and beaten egg; then stir in rest of flour in 1/2 c. increments until thick. Knead lightly; roll
out and cut with large biscuit cutter. Place in greased biscuit pan; cover and put in warm place to rise for 2 hours. Bake
at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. (Spread tops with butter after first 5 minutes cooking.)

Note: This recipe can be made up and put in greased, tightly covered bowl in refrigerator and used as needed.
Punch down; knead lightly; roll out and cut; put in greased pan, cover and let rise for 2 hours before baking.
