2 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp flour
1 cup milk
5-6 slices of dried beef
salt and pepper to taste
toast or biscuits for serving

Directions:

Melt butter in small saucepan over medium heat, whisk in flour and cook for a minute (make a roux, you know). Slowly whisk in milk and cook until thickened (make a white sauce, you know). Chop/chip the dried beef and add to thickened white sauce, season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve over toast or biscuits.

Mom would consider this heresy, but I like to add a shot of Tabasco and a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the gravy, and then whisk in a handful of grated cheddar cheese. Dara and Maya like it that way, too.
