2 cups lt brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
3 eggs, beaten
1 tsp baking soda (dissolved in 2 tbsp hot water)
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 lb. chopped pecans
1 lb. chopped candied cherries
2 tsp. vanilla
3 Tbsp. brandy

Preheat oven to 350º
Cream butter, sugar and salt well. Add beaten eggs, soda and water mixture, flour, fruit and nuts, and brandy. Using mini-muffin tins and mini paper baking cups, fill muffin cups 2/3 full and bake for 10 minutes.

These can be made weeks ahead of holiday season and frozen. Note: Mom's recipe says "brandy or wine", but I imagine any sort of flavored liquor would work, ie bourbon, rum, amaretto, etc. And with that 10 minute baking time, these have to be the tiny little mini muffins.
Mom also used fruitcake candy in place of the cherries-the way I remember them. She also made a note she did not use the full amount of fruit or nuts.
