2 large onions, peeled, sliced 1/2 inch thick
2 tbsp. oil, divided
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
4 pork chops 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 oz. mushrooms, sliced
1/2 tsp. thyme
1 cup beer, at room temperature

In skillet, over medium-high heat, brown onions on both sides in 1 tbsp. oil. Remove from skillet.
Combine flour, salt and pepper. Mix well. Dredge chops in flour and brown on both sides adding remaining oil if necessary. Remove chops.
In same skillet, sauté garlic, mushrooms and thyme for 1 minute. Mix remaining flour into mushroom mixture if slightly thickened sauce is desired. Return chops and onion to skillet. Add beer. Bring to boil. Reduce heat. Simmer covered 8 to 12 minutes. Season to taste.
