1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs unbeaten
1 1/2 cups all purpose white flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup lemon juice
1 tbsp lemon zest (optional)
Directions:

Preheat oven to 350ºF
Melt butter.
Add all remaining ingredients, and mix well.
Pour into loaf pan and bake for 1 hour (or less, at about 45 minutes watch it till done).
Switch it up by adding chopped cranberries or poppy seeds,
