2 1/4 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 cup soft butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp hot water
1 cup chopped nuts
14 oz. chocolate chips
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
1. Beat brown and white sugar, eggs and butter in a large bowl.
2. Dissolve soda in water and add to creamed mixture.
3. Stir in flour and salt. Add nuts and chips.
4. Drop by half-teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.

Can be chilled overnight and rolled into balls, using 1 tsp dough for each. Flatten with thumb.

Secret: Add 1 tsp of jam or jelly (any kind) to the prepared batter..it keeps the cookies soft!
