1 TEASPOON WHITE SUGAR
2 TABLESPOONS BUTTER SOFTENED
1 1/3 CUPS WATER (WARM)
1/4 TEASPOON SALT

3 TABLESPOONS BAKING SODA
3 CUPS WATER
COARSE SEA SALT
2 TABLESPOONS MELTED BUTTER (OPTIONAL)

IN BREAD MAKER ADD IN THIS ORDER, YEAST, FLOUR, SUGAR, SALT, BUTTER, WATER. SET MACHINE TO DOUGH CYCLE. WHEN COMPLETED DIVIDE THE DOUGH INTO 6 PIECES AND LET THE REST FOR A FEW MOMENTS, ROLL OUT INTO A ROPE ABOUT 15 INCHES LONG. LOOP AND TWIST INTO PRETZEL SHAPE. SET ON PARCHMENT PAPER TO RISE FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR. PRE HEAT OVER TO 450 DEGREES.

SECOND STEP
BRING WATER TO A BOIL, ADD BAKING SODA. REDUCE HEAT TO A SIMMER ADD 1 PRETZEL AT A TIME FOR ABOUT 30-45 SECONDS. REPLACE PRETZEL ON PARCHMENT PAPER. IF DESIRED BRUSH WITH MELTED BUTTER, AND SPRINKLE WITH SEA SALT. BAKE UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN 8-10 MINUTES
