1 C Butter
1 C Water
4 T Cocoa
2 C Flour
2 C Sugar
1/2 t Salt
2 Eggs
1/3 C Buttermilk
1 t vanilla
1 t Baking Soda

Icing:
1/2 c Butter
1/3 C Milk
1t vanilla
4 T Cocoa (Sifted)
2 C Powdered sugar (sifted)
1 C chopped pecans (Optional)

Directions:
Directions:
In a sauce pan bring butter, water and cocoa to a boil.
In a separate bowl Mix together Flour and Sugar. Add boiling butter mixture and stir till well mixed.
Beat eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, and soda together well. Add to Flour mixture and mix well.
Pour into greased & floured 11"X17" Cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for 15 minutes. Cool for 15 - 20 minutes. Then Frost with icing.

Icing: Melt together butter, milk, and cocoa. Then add Sifted powdered sugar. Mix until smooth and pour into center of cake and spread to edges.

This cake serves a crowd. It is great for a quick cake for the team. In 1988 Pat Chapin gave this recipe to Mary Christian. I have been making it for a long time too. I call it a self leveling cake cause you put it where you want it then it bakes to a nice flat surface. Easy to write Go Team on!
