5- cups flour (2lb bag of white lily self-rising)
1-tbsp baking powder
1-tsp baking soda
1- cup shortening
2-tbsp warm water
1-tsp salt
2-packages yeast
1 1/4-cups buttermilk (use more if needed)
4-tbsp. sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients, cut in shortening and dissolve yeast in warm water. Pour in buttermilk and add to dry ingredients. Mix well; knead adding more flour as needed. Roll out 2/3 inches thick and cut out biscuits, lay in baking pan brush top with butter. Bake at 450 degrees until brown. Dough may be stored in refrigerator at least one week, or biscuits may be cut and frozen in plastic storage bags.
