1 c. lard
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

3 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

1 c. chopped nuts, toasted (I like walnuts or pecans)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together lard and brown sugar.Add eggs one at a time beating. Add vanilla and beat.
Whisk dry ingredients together. Stir into creamed mixture adding nuts last.
Shape into logs and wrap in wax paper. Chill until firm. Can be refrigerated overnight or for several days.Can freeze for several months.
When ready to bake slice 1/4 inch and place on parchment lined cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
