Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3-4 pounds beef brisket
Salt and pepper
1 onion, sliced
1/4 cup chili sauce
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 garlic clove, minced
1 12-ounce bottle of beer
2 tbsp. flour
1/3 cup water

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350º.
Trim the excess fat from the brisket and season the meat with salt and pepper to taste. Place the brisket in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish and cover it with the onion slices.
In a bowl, combine the chili sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and beer and pour the mixture over the beef. Cover the baking dish tightly with foil and bake for 31/2 hours. Uncover the dish and bake for another 30 minutes, basting occasionally with the cooking liquid. Transfer the meat to a heated platter and keep it warm. Skim the excess fat from the pan liquid, strain it, and add enough water to make 1 cup. Pour the liquid into a small saucepan. Blend the flour and water, add the paste to the liquid, and cook the gravy over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it is thickened and bubbly. Slice the meat against the grain, pour about 1/4 cup gravy over the slices, and serve the rest of the gravy as an accompaniment.
