Ingredients:  
1/2 C. finely chopped onions
1/2 C. finely chopped celery
3 TBSP. butter
3 TBSP. flour
1 QT. chicken broth
1 C. heavy cream
2 small cans, chopped green chilis
Salt & pepper to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Saute onions & celery butter until limp.
add flour & mix well (double flour for a thicker soup, recommended)
Add in chicken broth, cooking till slightly thickened
Add in green chilies & continue cooking for a 5-6 minutes
Add heavy cream & heat to just under a boil.
correct seasonings.

Maurine said for a change,you can leave out the green chilies
when sautéing the onion & celery & add some cut pieces of asparagus
(about a bunch of slim asparagus). Gives a new & wonderful flavor. She used to add cooked chicken breast as well, with the green chili version. This soup is soooo good, a local place serves it for lunch!
