1/4 cup slivered almonds
2 T. butter
2 T. olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
1 pound ground beef, bison, or a mixture of half beef and half pork
2 t. cumin
salt and pepper to taste
2 cups tomato puree
1 t. dried oregano
1/4 cup chopped parsley
1/4 cup black olives, chopped
1/4 cup capers (rinsed if salted)
1/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries

Directions:
Directions:
Brown almonds in butter and remove. Add olive oil and heat. Add onions and garlic. When wilted, add meat and while browning, add the cumin, salt, and pepper.
When the meat is browned, add tomato puree and mix well. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well, adjust seasonings. Cook until meat is done and flavors are melded.
