Ingredients:
2 cups Ham cubes 1/2 inch squares or smaller
1/2 cup Steens Cane Syrup*
Lettuce of your choice
1/2 cup Grated Cheese

Directions:
Directions:
In a non stick pan, slowly heat the syrup on med/high to a slow boil, stirring occasionally. Continue to boil for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly Carefully add the ham chunks, stirring to coat. Continue to cook and stir until the juice from the ham is evaporated, and the ham takes on the caramel coating, and the liquid is thickened.

Prepare your salad with your favorite lettuce and other ingredients as you like it. Top the salad with the candied ham mixture, and top with grated cheese. Serve immediately, before the ham cools too much.

Personal Notes:
* Most any syrup can be used. I only found out there were other choices of syrups after I married and bought my own groceries. I thought Steens was the only syrup they made.

It works well with Spam too. The guys at work thought I was crazy, until they tried it. I had to make enough for the whole shift the next night.
