1 c. dates, chopped
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda
1 T. cocoa
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 pkg chocolate chips
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Oven - 350º.

Pour boiling water over dates and cool. Add baking soda, cocoa, shortening, sugar. Then add eggs.
Combine flour, salt, and add to cream mixture and dates.
Put into 9x13" greased pan and sprinkle with 1 pkg chocolate chips and 1/2 c. nuts.

Bake 25-30 min. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
