6 qts. of 6" cucumbers, sliced thinly
4 green peppers, diced
12 medium sized white onions , sliced and 'ringed'
1/2 cup salt

Dressing:
2 qts. vinegar
1/4 cup mustard seed
2 T turmeric
2 T ginger or 1 T whole cloves
2 T celery seed
8 cups sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Layer in large pot- a layer of sliced cucumbers, sprinkling of salt, a layer of onions, then salt, then a layer of peppers, then salt. Repeat until all are used. Cover and let stand at least 3 hours. Drain for 1 1/2 hrs.

Prepare the dressing mixing all the ingredients and bringing to a boil. Stir until the sugar dissolves . Add the pickles/cucumbers and boil for 3 minutes.
Ladle into jars while hot to seal.

This was always a family 'project'. We always loved them and were so proud when Daddy when a Blue Ribbon for them at the state fair in Florida.
